Problem

We have zero video content. All major competitors have thriving YouTube channels:

  • This Old House: 2M+ subscribers, TV show cross-promotion
  • Family Handyman: 1M+ subscribers
  • Bob Vila: 500K+ subscribers

Video content:

  1. Drives additional traffic from YouTube search (huge for DIY terms)
  2. Increases time-on-page when embedded in articles
  3. Builds audience trust (seeing a real person helps)
  4. Creates additional monetization path

Suggested approach

  1. Start with 5 most visual articles: leaky-faucet, patch-drywall, ceiling-fan, replace-electrical-outlet, garbage-disposal
  2. Keep videos under 10 minutes — no fluff
  3. Embed in article body next to the written steps
  4. Link back to article in video description (SEO boost)

Priority

Medium — high effort but compounds over time.
